The foundation of our practice is effective communication. Powers Pet Emergency and Specialty will work closely with your regular vet clinic, providing medical notes, evaluations and recommendations – we become a part of your pet’s medical team. Whether it is handling an advanced/ complicated surgery or providing same-day evaluations, Powers Pet Emergency and Specialty is a community hospital serving as an extension of your primary care vet.

We are always looking to expand and improve on how to best take care of our patients.  Here are some answers to frequently asked questions.

What advice can I receive over the phone? Legally and without doing a physical examination there is limited advise we can give over the phone without a current doctor, client/patient relationship.

What do I need to bring if I come in for an exam? Just you and your pet.

How much is an emergency exam? $75.00

What happens after the exam? Our experienced doctor(s) will create a specific medical care plan that will have costs associated for you to determine the best course of treatment.

What if I have financial concerns?  We understand that this can be an unexpected financial expense.  We do accept all major credit cards and you can also apply for Care Credit which is a credit card you can ONLY use for medical reasons for both you and your family. There is also Harley’s Hope and PetAid. Links for these are listed below.  We also recommend that you inquire about a health insurance plan for your pet and have provided a link below.

What can I do if my pet passed away at home? You can bring your beloved pet to us to have him/her cremated.  We also will make an ink paw print of your pet’s paw at no charge.

What do I do if I found or lost a pet? Always contact the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region at 473-1741. If it is in the middle of the night, you can bring the pet to our facility.

Who do I contact about injured wildlife? Contact the Wild Forever Foundation at 475-Wild.
